Matterport’s autumn updates – exciting new features launched
Matterport, market leaders in 3D scanning of the built environment, are rolling out some exciting new features with their digital twins. Matterport’s 3D models offer an innovative way to explore any size of property or building through an immersive, high-resolution virtual tour. Users are already able to navigate a property as if they were physically there, zooming in on features, checking room dimensions and viewing floorplans, but will now have access to even more functionality.
In an autumn statement, Matterport have announced that users will soon have the following new tools at their disposal:
Defurnishing a space
Though still officially in beta, this new feature packs quite a punch. Matterport’s models can now ‘defurnish’ the rooms using A.I. to create an ‘empty’ space for prospective buyers. Visualising a blank canvas can be a benefit to prospective buyers looking to refurbish a home or where there is cluttered or outdated furniture.
In a commercial setting, you can use ‘defurnished’ and ‘floorplan’ views to kickstart redesigns and check accessibility during property improvement projects or strategically plan a space to meet the needs of potential clients. The potential uses of this feature are endless!
View the defurnish in action
Watch how easy it is to defurnish and refurnish a room when clicking the armchair icon. Removing clutter in the garage, for example, dramatically opens up this space, showing how the room could be used if a conversion or alterations are being considered.
Merging digital twins
Matterport have now introduced the ability to merge digital twins. If a room or space need adding, it is no longer necessary to complete a time consuming rescan of the property as an individual room can be linked to an existing model.
It is especially useful in a commercial environment or for any client with a number of buildings as we would have previously have had to go to Matterport to request that they be combined.
From sprawling properties with outbuildings, business premises or even high rise homes, we can now connect models upwards and outwards.
Adding descriptions
Matterport subscribers now have the option to automatically generate property descriptions based on intrinsic data captured in a digital twin.
If time is tight or copy-writing is a struggle, you can now let your digital twin do the heavy lifting for you.
Users have the ability to create impactful content with A.I., selecting an appropriate tone of voice, such as ‘informative’ or ‘aspirational’, and the level of detail required.
We can switch this feature on for you if you wish to try adding these property descriptions.
NicheCom is proud to be one of Matterport’s largest UK partners which enables us to offer nationwide coverage of our 3D scanning service. All of our photographers are equipped with one of their state-of-the-art cameras, and can produce a digital twin of any home or building whilst on a property marketing visit.
A big bonus of ordering a scan through NicheCom, is that you get free access to our GotoView virtual viewing platform. This ground-breaking technology allows an agent to present a virtual walkthrough of a property to a prospective buyer via an easy to navigate web portal.
Everyone benefits when a virtual viewing can take place before a physical viewing. Buyers waste less time on unsuitable homes, sellers spend less time preparing for viewings that go nowhere and agents can save on travel time, petrol costs and reduce their carbon emissions.
